Each of your teeth contains pulp, which holds nerves and provides nutrients to the tooth. The pulp runs down through the root like a thread inside a canal. When the pulp becomes diseased or injured, it dies, posing increased risk for infection.
Without proper treatment, patients suffer pain and risk potential tooth loss. Dr. Batton or Dr. Harlin will remove the pulp, then clean the root canal and seal it off. The doctor will usually finish with a crown or other restoration to strengthen and protect the tooth.
